Expansion on the Horizon: Jeffersonville Steel Processing Company Considers Growth at Ports of Indiana-Jeffersonville

voestalpine Roll Forming Corporation looking to potentially expand Jeffersonville operations.

Jeffersonville, IN. (Aug. 5, 2024)

voestalpine Roll Forming Corporation (RFC) is considering a major expansion of their Jeffersonville operations. If Jeffersonville is chosen, the expansion would result in a new production line for frame rails for several major global customers, and would include over $77,900,000 in construction, equipment, and other related services. The expansion would include over 100 new jobs that will meet or exceed the Clark County average wage.

voestalpine RFC, a supplier of roll formed metal, services several different industries, including aerospace, construction, material handling, off-highway, office furniture, solar, and transportation, is wholly owned by voestalpine AG, a globally leading steel and technology group operating in over 50 countries.

Several locations are under consideration for the company’s expansion project. As part of its decision-making process, the company is requesting support from the City of Jeffersonville with a final location decision determined and communicated by voestalpine AG on August 19, 2024. Duke Energy has also offered additional incentives.

“As we look to further develop new markets and grow our business to meet our customer’s needs, we want to thank the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, Duke Energy Indiana, Clark County, One Southern Indiana, Jeffersonville Redevelopment Commission, and the City of Jeffersonville for the support in evaluating where the next chapter of growth will reside for voestalpine Roll Forming Corporation. The cooperation with state and local leaders is a key consideration for us,” said CFO of voestalpine Roll Forming Corporation, Brad Lacy. “It is important to note that we still have a decision to make on an ideal location for our investment for all stakeholders including employees, customers and the communities in which we operate. We will finalize this decision the week of August 12 in partnership with our executive team and an official press release will follow the week of Monday, August 19 from voestalpine AG.”

“We are thrilled voestalpine RFC continues to find success in Jeffersonville and are now under final consideration to significantly grow their operations at their Ports of Indiana-Jeffersonville location,” said Mayor Mike Moore. “This expansion is yet another reflection of the vibrant economic environment we have fostered over the years, now affording us this opportunity to bring over 100 new high-wage jobs to the community, all of which are above the Clark County average wage.”

“Ports of Indiana is delighted voestalpine RFC is considering the Jeffersonville port for this critical expansion,” said Ports of Indiana Chief Executive Officer Jody Peacock. “This is a visionary company that provides specialized roll formed metal for key industries, including aerospace, construction, solar, and transportation. By locating next to its existing facility, it can further enhance its competitive advantage by leveraging the port’s multimodal connections, logistics services, foreign-trade zone and operational synergies within the port’s steel campus.”

“Voestalpine has operated in this region for years, and when a customer of ours considers expanding here, it is a win for Hoosiers,” said Duke Energy Indiana President Stan Pinegar. “We are glad to work with them to help make this possible. This would bring both capital investment and jobs—both permanent and construction—to this community.”

“We are delighted about the potential expansion of voestalpine RFC in Southern Indiana,” said CEO and President of One Southern Indiana, Lance Allison. “This move underscores the attractiveness of our business and economic development environment and the strong network we offer to companies looking to grow in the region.”

1si President & CEO Named One of Indiana Business Journal’s Indiana 250

Congratulations to President & CEO Lance Allison who has been named one of Indiana Business Journal’s Indiana 250.  Please read their official press release below for more information about the Indiana 250.

IBJ MEDIA RELEASES THIRD ANNUAL INDIANA 250 LIST OF INFLUENTIAL HOOSIERS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (July 17, 2024) — IBJ Media on Wednesday released its third annual Indiana 250, a list of the state’s most influential and impactful business and community leaders, representing public and private companies, law firms, universities, not-for-profits, government and community organizations.

The list, available at Indiana250.com, includes nearly 70 names that are new from last year. IBJ Media CEO Nate Feltman said that’s evidence that the people making an impact in Indiana are always growing and changing.

“It’s hard to choose just 250 people from among the thousands who work every day to make Indiana a better place to live and to work,” Feltman said. “But we believe the people on the Indiana 250 list are especially worthy of distinction. They are thinking big and driving change.”

The list was compiled by the executives, editors and newsroom staffs at IBJ Media’s three news brands

— Indianapolis Business Journal, Inside INdiana Business and Indiana Lawyer — after a monthslong process that included reviewing nominations, researching Indiana organizations and talking with community leaders across the state.

The Indiana 250 will be celebrated at an exclusive reception featuring remarks by Vice President Mike Pence on July 17. Title sponsors of the event are CareSource, Ice Miller and Pacers Sports & Entertainment. Premier sponsors of the event are Aaron Wealth Advisors, Bank of America and Northwest Bank. The host sponsor is Salesforce.

IBJ Media launched the Indiana 250 program in 2022 and plans to continue updating the list annually.

“Creating this list is always inspiring because the people on it have so much passion for our communities and our state,” Feltman said. “One of our goals with the list is to make sure that we recognize people from across Indiana and from diverse industries and then make connections among them for the betterment of all Hoosiers.”

Among those returning to the list are CEOs of some of the state’s largest public and private companies, including David Ricks of Eli Lilly and Co., Gail Boudreaux of Elevance Health, Jennifer Rumsey of Cummins Inc., Dan Starr of Do it Best Corp., Kimberly Ryan of Hillenbrand, Chuck Magro of Corteva, Scott Davison of OneAmerica, Mark Millett of Steel Dynamics and Brent Yeagy of Wabash.

IBJ Media added a number of additional executives this year, including Curt Begle of Berry Global, Ellen Crabb of United Animal Health, Brad Moore of Roche Diagnostics Corp., R. Scott Brand of Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Brandi Davis-Handy of AES Indiana and Dave Bailey of OrthoPediatrics.

Indiana 250 Editor Lesley Weidenbener, who is also editor and assistant publisher of IBJ, said the list also recognizes leaders at not-for-profit organizations, industry groups, government agencies and smaller companies that have an outsized influence in Indiana. The list includes Hoosiers who are making an impact through health care, law, philanthropy, not-for-profit leadership and the arts.

Indiana Fever sensation Caitlin Clark—who is drawing tens of thousands more fans to the WNBA—made the 2024 list, for example, even though she’s been in Indiana only a few months. So did Dennis Bland, president of the Center for Leadership Development which helps prepare Black youth for careers and college. And the Indiana 250 includes Kalen Jackson, a vice chair and co-owner of the Indianapolis Colts who is spearheading the team’s efforts to remove the stigma associated with mental health problems.

“We love welcoming people to the Indiana 250 who are impacting the state in non-corporate ways,” Weidenbener said. “We are a media company focused on business, and so of course our list is heavy on corporate executives. But the arts, philanthropy and charitable work are key parts of our larger community.”

Elected officials are not eligible for the list.

IBJ Media published profiles of the honorees in a magazine that will be distributed with the July 19 issue of the IBJ. The magazine is available for purchase for $50 at Indiana250.com. Indiana Lawyer subscribers will receive a discount on the book. All subscribers of IBJ, Inside INdiana Business and Indiana Lawyer can access the profiles and additional information online at Indiana250.com.

The Indiana 250 reception is invitation-only and closed to the media. Limited media access will be available from 5-6 PM in the Salesforce Tower lobby.

One Southern Indiana Board of Directors Announces New CEO and President

Lance Allison, CCE, IOM, is set to join the 1si team as the next President and CEO.

New Albany, IN. (February 2, 2024)

The search for a new One Southern Indiana (1si) President and CEO has successfully concluded. The Board of Directors has announced that Lance Allison, a Murray, Kentucky native, has been selected as the next leader of the Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development organization. He is expected to start in mid-March and follows Wendy Dant Chesser, who led the organization from 2012 to 2023.

Allison has a proven record of demonstrated success and growth, serving as CEO and President of two chambers: Murray-Calloway County in Kentucky and Panama City Beach in Florida. He is a graduate of Murray State University and was most recently employed as the Director of Business Development with Bacon Farmer Workman (BFW) Engineering & Testing / Marcum Engineering LLC.

“Lance not only has a deep appreciation for both the chamber and economic development aspects of our organization, but he also brings incredible strengths in building sincere and trusted relationships, which also was evidenced throughout his interaction with our board members, investors, and staff,” said 1si Board of Directors Chair Bryan Wickens. “His experience, ideas, and passion for being an industry professional, supporting professional growth not only for himself but staff as well, will make him an invaluable leader of our organization. We are convinced Lance is the right leader at the right time for 1si.”

At the Murray-Calloway County Chamber, Allison led the chamber to U.S. Chamber Accreditation, a high distinction held by less than 200 chambers, and created and led a new strategic plan. Global Technology Giant Chooses New Operation Location in Southern Indiana

Meta will open their newest technology operation center in Jeffersonville, Indiana, bringing $800M and 100 jobs to the region.

Jeffersonville, IN. (January 25, 2024)

Governor Eric J. Holcomb and Indiana Secretary of Commerce David Rosenberg joined executives of Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ: META) today as the company announced plans to establish a new $800 million data center campus in Indiana. The new facility in Jeffersonville will support approximately 100 operational jobs and hundreds of construction jobs in the coming years.

Meta, which powers products such as Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp, will establish a nearly 700,000-square-foot facility at River Ridge Commerce Center in Jeffersonville. This new facility will be Meta’s 18th in the United States and will be supported by 100% renewable energy.

“We are thrilled to make Indiana and Jeffersonville our new home. We are committed to playing a positive role here and investing in the community’s long-term vitality,” said Brad Davis, director of data center community and economic development at Meta. “Jeffersonville stood out as an outstanding location for our newest data center thanks to its great access to infrastructure, deep pool of talent, and amazing community partners. Thank you to everyone who has helped us get here.”

Based on the company’s investment plans, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation committed an investment in Meta in the form of a 35-year term data center sales tax exemption for a minimum $800 million in eligible capital. For each additional $800 million of eligible investment made at the site within that time period, the company will be eligible for tax exemptions for an additional 5-year period, up to a total term of 50 years. These incentives are performance-based, meaning the company is eligible to claim state benefits once investments are made. The city of Jeffersonville and the River Ridge Development Authority offered additional incentives.

“Today is a great day for Indiana and for our southeast region as we welcome another major investment to the River Ridge Commerce Center,” Gov. Holcomb said. “Indiana’s efforts to cultivate industries of the future are already paying dividends for Hoosiers, attracting growth in critical sectors like data storage, semiconductors, energy and electric vehicles. We’re excited to welcome Meta to Indiana and look forward to the company’s partnership in growing Jeffersonville and the southeast Indiana region.”

“On behalf of the residents of Jeffersonville, I am ecstatic to officially welcome Meta to our community,” said Mike Moore, Mayor of Jeffersonville.  “River Ridge has been saving this 619-acre site for a mega company, and Meta’s investment and commitment to our community are proof that this strategy is paying off.  The economic activity around this new data center will support every sector of our economy, and we appreciate all those who have worked to bring Meta to Jeffersonville.”

“1si is immensely excited to welcome Meta to Southern Indiana,” said John Launius, Vice President and Director of Economic Development at One Southern Indiana. “This project has been a long time coming, and we can’t wait to see the benefits the new data center campus will bring to our community, including 100 new initial jobs, and celebrate how this will propel our regional momentum and opportunities.”

Moving Forward: Industry-Leading LSV Vehicle Company Speeding to River Ridge

Bintelli, a five-time Inc. 5000 company, will expand its electric vehicle operations to River Ridge.

Jeffersonville, IN. (January 17, 2024)

Bintelli, an industry-leading low-speed vehicle (LSV) company, will open an assembly and distribution facility in the River Ridge Commerce Center to produce electric golf carts and other low-speed recreational vehicles. Bintelli will invest over $4 million into the region by leasing and improving a building in River Ridge and adding new furniture and fixtures. The location will also have up to 67 new jobs with an average wage of over $26.00 per hour, with the company providing training for each employee. For more information on employment opportunities, please visit https://www.indeed.com/cmp/Bintelli.

Bintelli started as the dream of Justin Jackrel in 2000, and the company has quickly grown to be an industry standard. The company currently has the largest LSV assembly facility in the United States in South Carolina and is also a five-time Inc. 5000 company. Their products include golf carts, electric bicycles, scooters and mopeds, parts, and accessories created from quality craftsmanship.

“Bintelli’s explosive growth over the last few years has been extremely rewarding,” said Justin Jackrel, President of Bintelli. “We couldn’t be more excited to expand our operations with this new facility at River Ridge Commerce Center, thanks to PRG Commercial Property Advisors and Avison Young for their comprehensive site selection and brokerage services. The proximity to our new logistics partner, Mister “P” Express, played a big part in choosing this location for our new assembly facility.  We look forward to opening our newest expansion and working with such amazing new regional partners.”

“From one successful American Dream story to another, Mister “P” Express is thrilled to welcome Bintelli as our neighbor at River Ridge Commerce Center,” said Cindy Collier, President & CEO at Mister “P” Express, Inc. “Bintelli’s expansion from South Carolina to River Ridge is a strategic move for the company’s continued growth, while also bringing a tremendous economic impact to our community. We can’t wait for our shiny, red 18-wheelers to haul the nation’s best electric golf carts, bikes, and gas mopeds all across the country.”

Based on the company’s job creation plans, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) committed an investment in Bintelli of up to $675,000 in the form of incentive-based tax credits. These tax credits are performance-based, meaning the company is eligible to claim incentives once Hoosiers are hired.

“We are excited to welcome another innovative, fast-growing company to the state,” said IEDC Chief Strategy Officer Ann Lathrop. “Here in Indiana, Bintelli joins a robust network of quality manufacturers and a statewide ecosystem committed to advancing a business climate that powers the growth and talent needed to succeed.”

“The City of Jeffersonville is excited that Bintelli has chosen the River Ridge Commerce Center as the location for their newest facility,” said Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore. “This strategic investment into our community will add 67 new jobs as well as position Bintelli and their premium recreational vehicle products for long-term success in this growing sector.”

“We want to welcome Mr. Jackrel and his team at Bintelli. Their investment showcases the strategic advantages offered by River Ridge and Southern Indiana,” said Jerry Acy, the executive director of the River Ridge Development Authority. “Bintelli has proven itself to be an industry leader in the rapidly growing recreational low-speed vehicle market and we are excited to partner with them as they grow here at River Ridge.”

“Bintelli brings a unique product to Southern Indiana and the surrounding regions,” said John Launius, Vice President and Director of Economic Development at One Southern Indiana. “Based on the growth that Bintelli has seen over the years, we are thrilled to have them in the region and can’t wait to watch their continued success as an industry leader.”
