Southern Indiana Works (SIW) Awarded Grant Following Intensive Workforce Development Program

Southern Indiana Works (SIW) is proud to announce that it has been awarded $10,000 in grant funds from Jobs for the Future (JFF) Communities of Action. JFF, with support from JPMorgan Chase Foundation  selected SIW  as one of twenty state and local workforce development boards across the country to participate in an opportunity to  make meaningful, lasting change in their communities by devising innovative solutions to challenges that impact regional economies. SIW engaged in a comprehensive series of discovery and design sessions aimed at equipping workforce professionals with the mindset, strategies, processes, and tools necessary to thoroughly examine localized issues through an equity lens and human-centered design principles.

The objective of the program was to create actionable plans addressing critical workforce challenges within local communities. SIW is honored to have been selected as one of only four organizations from the cohort to receive funding, which will be instrumental in implementing our carefully crafted action plan. This plan focuses on educating employers about fair chance hiring practices and preparing currently incarcerated or recently returned citizens for self-sustaining employment. The seed funding will enable SIW to expand existing initiatives and launch new ones that promote equity and diversity among stakeholders. By fostering workforce inclusivity, addressing local talent shortages, and providing essential skills and resources, we aim to support reentering citizens as they reintegrate into their communities. SIW is excited to move forward with our initiatives and grateful for the support and recognition of our efforts.
