One Southern Indiana Proudly Announces Another Economic Development Milestone With The Expansion Of Eagle Steel’s Jeffersonville Operation
One Southern Indiana is pleased to announce Eagle Steel Products, Inc.’s expansion at the Port of Indiana-Jeffersonville on the Ohio River. Eagle Steel Products processes and fabricates steel products for the automotive, commercial, and industrial markets. Construction began in October on an $8 million investment to double the size of its existing 80,000 square-foot facility. This expansion will create more than 25 new jobs by 2009.
“Since 1982, Eagle Steel has been an important contributor to Southern Indiana’s economy,” said Michael Dalby, President and CEO of One Southern Indiana. “Considering Eagle Steel operates other facilities in the region, we are thrilled they chose Southern Indiana as the site of their future growth. There are great things happening in Clark and Floyd Counties and we look forward to sharing news of several more projects in the near future.” There are great things happening in Clark and Floyd Counties and we look forward to sharing news of several more projects in the near future.”

This expansion marks yet another successful project location for One Southern Indiana since its founding in July 2006. Since that time, the organization’s economic development efforts have resulted in the creation of more than 3,081 net new jobs, $113 million in new capital, and more than $107 million in new payroll annually to Clark and Floyd Counties.
Eagle Steel Products plans to begin hiring materials handlers and supervisors in 2008.
“Through the efforts of One Southern Indiana and the Port of Jeffersonville, we have been able to develop a steel campus here at the port, which brings tenants with strong steel usage together in handling the area’s steel needs,” said Charles Moore, president of Eagle Steel Products. “This marries our multi-modal ability with various suppliers offering a one-stop shopping approach. The savings in logistics costs becomes a win-win for all.”
Through the coordination of One Southern Indiana, the City of Jeffersonville will provide Eagle Products with the benefit of phasing-in its property taxes over five years while simultaneously increasing the tax base. The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Eagle Steel Products up to $150,000 in performance-based tax credits and up to $35,000 in training grants based upon the company’s job creation plans.
“On behalf of the City of Jeffersonville, I would like to congratulate Eagle Steel on their most recent expansion,” said Mayor Rob Waiz. “They have been a strong presence in our community for many years and we look forward to continuing that relationship for years to come.”
