One Southern Indiana’s top investors celebrate economic development successes
On June 6th, more than 80 select business leaders gathered at Churchill Downs to celebrate economic development in Southern Indiana. Hosted by One Southern Indiana, the first annual Shareholders Day at the Downs mingled two important groups to enjoy a buffet lunch, bet on the ponies, and most importantly – commemorate a year of remarkable accomplishment.
The event mixed One Southern Indiana’s top investors ($10,000+) with companies that have recently established or expanded in Clark and Floyd Counties. The day’s fourth race was named “The Crossdock Development Classic” after the event’s Platinum Sponsor and Gold Sponsors included First Harrison Bank, Cornerstone Environmental, and Frost Brown Todd.
Following a brief video presentation, One Southern Indiana representatives welcomed attendees followed by remarks from Lee Wilburn, president of Crossdock Development, Inc.
“The vitality of Southern Indiana’s economy is a critical part of this region’s future,” said Wilburn. “An investment in One Southern Indiana’s future helps build the foundation for success across all aspects of our business community.”
“Our top investors are such a vital part of how economic development happens here,” said Michael Dalby, president and CEO of One Southern Indiana. “Their investment allows us to continue working to provide companies with the help they need in locating here or expanding to embrace future opportunities.”
Since July 1, 2007, One Southern Indiana has provided new and expanding businesses with solutions and resources resulting in 1,687 new jobs, $56.8 million in new payroll, and $88 million in new capital investment through 2010.
